Parents - We have complete yet another week here in third grade. We are really getting into the hang of procedures and policies. This week we took the Map Test for reading and math. We also complete all of our assessments and began our instruction. In reading this week we read about Aero and Office Mike and the different ways a police dog can help. In math we finished up graphing and began to learn about problem solving strategies. We have learned so far to draw a picture and act out (that was really fun!!) when trying to solve problems. Next week we will continue our reading curriculum with a story about How Animals Talk. This non fiction story is used in conjunction with beginning our unit on Animals. We will begin our study by looking at the adaptation techniques of animals. We will be studying animals for awhile and from past experiences, students really like and enjoy all the hands on activities with this unit of study. In math we begin our unit on numeration. We will be looking at place value and writing numbers in standard and expanded forms. We continue to work hard in third grade!!!!
